    #24. How Relationships Change

    This Conversation Will Help You…

    1. Say what would change from early in a relationship to later in a relationship

    2. Name positive parts of early relationship stages and later relationship stages

    3. Say what are some ways that a relationship would get deeper with time

    Think About This First

    •  While almost all relationships for young people do not last the rest of their lives, talking about how relationships change with time gives an opportunity to think about what kinds of things build closeness and intimacy.

    Having the Conversation

    Start here:

What is the difference between an early relationship and a longer-term relationship?

What do you think the biggest changes are?

How do you think intimacy and closeness is affected by time in a relationship?

Is it always for the better? Why/why not?

    Continue:

What’s a really positive part of being in the early stages of a relationship?

What’s a positive part about being in longer-term stages of a relationship?

What do you think would change for the positive as a relationship lasts longer and longer?

    Keep Talking:

How different do you think a connection would be based on dating one week v. two months?

What about two months v. one year?

What about one year v. ten years?

How long do you see relationships lasting with people your age?

Do you think there’s an ideal length of time for a relationship at this time in your life?
